Our Rainbow Waterfall: A Symbol of Inclusion
Inspired by First Metropolitan United Church in Victoria, our "rainbow waterfall" serves as a striking visual symbol of our commitment to being an affirming congregation. This beautiful installation cascades from the front of our sanctuary, with vibrant sheer fabric flowing gracefully down toward the floor.
Creating Our Rainbow Waterfall
The rainbow waterfall is made from lengths of colorful sheer fabric arranged in the traditional rainbow spectrum. Each band of fabric is hemmed and threaded onto a supporting rod, creating a flowing, waterfall-like effect that represents the flowing abundance of God's love for all people.
Our original installation was created in 2017 under the guidance of our Chair of Outreach, who sourced the materials locally and coordinated the creation of this meaningful symbol. The generous drape and vibrant colors create a powerful visual reminder of our Affirming values and our celebration of diversity within our community.
Visitors often comment on the beauty and significance of this installation, which has become an important part of our worship space and our identity as an Affirming congregation.
